the chaps at off-key hq have been busy digging out the old dat tapes from their attic and sorting out the wheat from the chaff. for this release they go way back to bring you four more tracks courtesy of kimble, a collaboration between matt o brien and matt gates (aka minor planets). kicking things off is the beatless sketch of >lycius<, spiky alien synths flicker and pierce through detached ethereal pads moving in the surrounding weightless space. next up is the ep s lynchpin track, >state of shock<. proper techno is the order of the day here, this is an authentic old school minimal track first recorded in 1996 but left gathering dust ever since. immerse yourself in the subtle dub inflected melodies swirling in your womb bubble while the slamming rhythm track provides the heartbeat. over on the flip we chill things out with the haunting strings and aquatic bassline of >amb<, providing a delicate counterpoint to the upfront style of the a side. the ep is completed with a stunning remix of >state of shock< by minor planets, who layer on a towering bassline and transform the original into a laid back dub workout.

if this were an episode of the game show jeopardy and the following track titles represented an answer, the correct question would undoubtedly be what is a huge hephner ep?. after his highly successful debut (booty drop ep) on siteholder uncut, as well as various remix projects, the funk slut himself returns with his virgin vinyl effort for siteholder records. following what he calls a highly inspirational trip to the strip clubs and whorehouses of las vegas, hephner took his sexual adventures and turned them into an ep that couples ass-shaking funk with in-your-face bass. it seems that his pimpin escapades have finally found an outlet that wont land him in jail, but instead on some of the sickest sound systems our planets nightclubs have to offer

sebastien leger s mistakes has undoubtedly been received as one of the coolest imprints this year. here it returns with the 3rd release, again in the planets theme : venus / jupiter. its easy to see why these two stormers are doing the business for sander kleinenberg, chris lake, pete tong and a host of other djs

off-key limited is a new subsidiary label of off-key industries whose aim is to give exposure to new artists alongside established producers and to bring a wider range of genres with less of a focus on the dancefloor. each release will be strictly limited and will not be repressed. we start by raiding the off-key vaults to unleash a series of releases entitled >the dust off<, featuring material written in the off-key studio over the years by matt o brien and various collaborators and associates. matt kicks off the ep with >a new page turns<, a bangin dubby detroit techhouse cut driven by a low slung rhythm and analog stabs dripping in reverb, overlayed with a melodica riff which calls to mind the smokey refrains of augustus pablo. next up is >untitled< by newcomer mat gates, a beatless slice of electronica whose understated melodies conjure up thoughts of late summer evenings of times gone by. on the flip, o brien and gates combine under the artist name kimble to bring you >epiphany<, led by a shimmering melody underpinned with haunting strings which combine to form an electro track of rare beauty. this diverse ep is completed with mat gates second contribution, >in a hole<, a drum n bass track with a disjointed, skeletal rhythm, sub bass drops and fragile, melancholy melody.

return of the cocoon-proof techno don! some phat business from jaceks underwater lab - yet another exercise in his very own concept of combining minimal groove with maximal sound spectrum. and it works: solid mid-tempo rhythm carries what seems to be a thousand of layers of sound. meaty, bouncing bass stabs intertwine with washes of synthetic melodies, while percussion drops and unidentified samples swirl around in this bio-robotic monster of a tune. >green river< takes jaceks minimal obsession into cold outer space, where you can hear the planets spin and the only hope seems to be coming from a dying communication device... cold, stark and haunting, this is either work of a madman or truly the future now

exercise one is coming up with a new release on mobilee. this guys were touring a lot the last 6 month and here are two of the most successful and euphoric tracks of their live set on vinyl. dark star and melting are deep techno tracks with the typical exercise one flavour. two rollin and groovin tunes blowing up unstable planets

its time again to add another sonic journey to the watergate mix series catalogue and for this endeavour we have enlisted one of the scenes brightest shining stars and club mainstay jimi jules.

this is the first ambient release from asc on auxiliary, since 2011 s collaborative album with sam kdc - decayed society. as with the majority of asc s recent work, this release continues the theme of his fascination with space. the term trans-neptunian objects refers to dwarf planets and asteroids that lay beyond neptune, and are usually found in the kuiper belt. with that being said, you can fathom a guess that this album is seriously deep space ambient, and you wouldn t be wrong. a total of eight tracks spanning 73, which take you to the deepest regions of our solar system.

following a busy year of stylistically varied releases under various guises on his own magic + dreams label, ralph cumbers delivers his first long-player for punch drunk. with a title lifted from the lysergic prose of a brian aldiss novel and grooves informed by the loopier, more martian aspects of chi-town jack and detroit techno-soul, reeling skullways marks a subtle, but highly alluring development in the evolution of cumbers primary recording project.
